From HistoryKill 98, 99, 2000 and 2001 versions: You must first uninstall HistoryKill by going to your Windows Start button, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, select HistoryKill and press Remove.  Next, go to Step 2 below.

From an older HistoryKill 2001 version: If you have HistoryKill running shut it down.  To shutdown: Press the WINDOWS KEY + H KEY (Hold Windows Key then press the H Key) or ALT KEY + Z KEY (Hold ALT Key then press the Z Key) to bring the HistoryKill Window in front of you, then go to the File menu and select Shutdown HistoryKill and press Yes.  Next, go to Step 2 below.

Step 2: Go to http://www.historykill.info/download/ and download the HistoryKill update and choose "Run program from it's location." or if you want to save it on your hard drive that is fine, just remember where you save it!  When it is done downloading it will begin the installation and update process!

Click on your Windows Start Button, go to Settings, click on Control Panel.  Double-click Add/Remove programs and select HistoryKill and press the Remove button.

This of course should not happen, but on the rare occasion that it does due to an Internet Explorer History error, make sure all Internet Explorer windows are closed.  Try to Auto-Kill with HistoryKill, and then check the History again.  If the History is still there, simply reboot your machine and everything should work fine.

After running HistoryKill and selecting to wipe the INDEX.DAT files, HistoryKill will put these files in a queue for deletion.  Windows keep these files in-use so it is  impossible to delete them without crashing Windows.  HistoryKill will securely delete them on shutdown, and Windows will re-create them on startup.  The new INDEX.DAT files created will be absolutely free of all your web surfing tracks!

This of course should not happen, but on the rare occasion that is does due to an Internet Explorer TIF error, make sure all Internet Explorer windows are closed.  Try to Auto-Kill with HistoryKill, and then check the History again.  If the History is still there, simply reboot your machine and everything should work fine.

HistoryKill Auto-Kill immediately after you close your web browser only works with Netscape 6, IE 4-5+, and AOL 4-6+.  I would strongly recommend updating to Netscape 6 at http://www.netscape.com

You need to make sure you have your Netscape folder and version set up correctly.  You can set this up by going to your "File, Netscape Settings" in HistoryKill.  In this window make sure you have the correct version of Netscape selected.

The Netscape folder should be the folder before your "Users" folder inside the Netscape folder.  This is typically in "C:\Program Files\Netscape\".

You can also try typing a drive letter (IE: C) in the Netscape folder box, then pressing Auto-Detect.

AOL is very bad about keeping your surfing private.  You can easily look in your "Organize" and "Download" folders in your AOL folder to see what exactly you have been doing on the Internet.  HistoryKill solves these privacy problems!
